Course No. 610, Art IA, Introduction to Drawing (S1)
This course, in two semesters, introduces the fundamentals of drawing. This class is designed to increase the students artistic confidence, understand art materials, techniques and art processes. Drawing exercises using the principles and elements of art, including line, shape, form, proportion, color, texture, and much more. Sketchbook recommended.


Still life drawing
Course No. 611, Art I-B, Introduction to Drawing (S2)
This course is the second semester of the fundamentals of drawing. Students will expand their knowledge and skills learned in the first semester of this course. Creative exercises using the principles and elements of art will continue to be emphasized. Further experimentation of art media and techniques will be explored. Sketchbook recommended.


Pastel drawing
Course No. 612, Art II-A, Intermediate Drawing & Art (S1)
This course is designed to explore new media in art. Ink, watercolor & acrylic paints are just several of the art media used. Students will continue to understand basic art materials, techniques and art processes. Mix-media will be explored as well. Creative exercises using the principles and elements of art will continue to be emphasized. Development of students individual artistic style to prepare them for continued study in art. Sketchbook recommended.

Course No. 613, Art II-B, Intermediate Drawing & Art (S2)
This course is designed to explore new media in art. Ink, watercolor & acrylic paints are just several of the art media used. Students will continue to understand basic art materials, techniques and art processes. Mix-media will be explored as well. Creative exercises using the principles and elements of art will continue to be emphasized. Development of students individual artistic style to prepare them for continued study in art. Sketchbook recommended.

Course No. 614, Art III-A, Acrylic and Oil Painting (S1)
This course explores the world of painting. Using oil and acrylic paints, students will learn many painting techniques & processes. Portraits, landscapes and still life objects will be studied. Creative exercises using the principles and elements of art will continue to be emphasized. The study of famous paintings and the art history of painting is encouraged. Sketchbook, paint brushes and stretched canvas recommended.


Watercolor painting
Course No. 615, Art III-B, Acrylic and Oil Painting (S2)
This course continues to explore the world of painting. Using oil and acrylic paints, students will learn many painting techniques & processes. Portraits, landscapes and still life objects will be studied. Creative exercises using the principles and elements of art will continue to be emphasized. The study of famous paintings and the art history of painting is encouraged. Students will begin to work independently allowing time to do supervised research and experimentation with paint mediums. Students will prepare for art competitions and shows. Sketchbook, paint brushes and stretched canvas recommended.


Clay sculpture
Course No. 620, Sculpture
Sculpture
This course introduces and explores three-dimensional art. Students will create projects using various sculpture mediums such as clay, plaster and wire. Exercises in modeling, carving and construction of form are techniques taught in this course. Creative exercises using the principles and elements of art will continue to be emphasized. The study of artworks and art history are encouraged. Sketchbook recommended.


Pastel drawing
Course No. 616 (S1) & 617 (S2), Art IV, Advanced Studio Time and Portfolio Development.
This advanced course is designed for the serious art student wishing to pursue a degree/career in the visual arts. Emphasis is on the development of technical excellence, breadth of experience in a wide variety of media and processes, and the concentration on a particular problem or medium which is of interest to the student. A portfolio of art work will be developed through the course of a school year to be considered for art competitions, shows and possible college credit. This portfolio may also be presented to college level art schools for acceptance and to acquire art scholarships. Sketchbook required.
